LocknMap FAQ

Everything about creating, sharing, and controlling private location links.

Creating & sharing

Do I have to use GPS?

No—you can paste a Google Maps URL or enter coordinates manually.

What’s the difference between 1‑1 meetup, event/gathering, and transaction/service?

Today, they create links the same way. The mode helps set context; we’ll add situation‑specific defaults and UI nuances (e.g., suggested expiries, copy cues, banners etc.) over time.

Can I add notes or a call button?

Yes—add a display name, instructions (landmarks/parking/floor), and optionally a call button that shows on the link page.

Security & privacy

Is data encrypted?

Yes—transport is encrypted; stored data is minimized and cleared on schedule. We don’t keep location history.

What if someone guesses the passcode?

Enable attempt limits (Pro). We also throttle attempts and you can rotate the passcode (Pro) or revoke instantly.

Can the link be reused or forwarded?

Only until it expires or hits the visit limit. You can revoke at any time with your admin code.

What’s the admin code vs passcode?

Passcode unlocks the location (for recipients). Admin code lets you manage the link (for you only).

Do you track recipients or keep visit logs?

We record minimal, privacy-safe counters needed for limits/abuse prevention. Pro users can view aggregate visit counts—no personal identity.

Billing & plans

Can I try Pro features during Early Access?

Some Pro features may be free for a limited time to gather feedback; we’ll announce before any paywall.

How are Pro limits different?

More active links, longer expiries, passcode rotation, attempt limits, analytics, and management tools.

How do I upgrade or cancel?

During Early Access, many Pro features are currently free while we gather feedback. We’ll introduce billing after Early Access; until then, feel free to use LocknMap and share feedback.

Troubleshooting

The link says ‘Invalid’ or ‘Expired.’

It’s revoked, expired, or the ID is mistyped. Ask the creator for a fresh link.

GPS/Map didn’t fetch my location.

Check browser permissions or enter coordinates/URL manually. Desktop browsers may block precise GPS.

I lost my admin code.

For security, we can’t disclose it. Create a new link; consider signing in to keep everything in your dashboard.
